Sakura
Cherry blossom cut from dyed woods and laid by hand into the surface. The only pattern in the workshop offered on three different grounds.
The pattern
A blossom cut, never printed
Every petal, branch and leaf in the Sakura pattern is a separate piece of wood. Seven timbers, dyed in twelve colours, are cut with the fretsaw and set into the surface one at a time before five coats of lacquer are polished over them by hand. Nothing is painted and nothing is laid on top: the drawing is the wood itself.
The collection runs to two pieces, a jewelry box in three sizes and a desk frame. On the box the blossom is set against black, nut or white, three grounds that change the whole temperature of the piece.
Seven patterns, one bench
Each collection is a different drawing cut by the same hands, in the same Sorrento workshop.
