A quieter, more contemporary reading of Sorrento marquetry: naturally toned woods, chrome hardware, and a pattern that stays in the background.
The pattern
Marquetry that does not raise its voice
Aurora was drawn for rooms where a traditional inlaid box would look like a visitor. The woods are left close to their natural tones, the contrast between them is narrow, and the hardware is chrome rather than gold. The making is unchanged: cut with the fretsaw, laid piece by piece, then five coats of lacquer polished by hand.
Aurora is currently a single piece, a jewelry box in three sizes, lined in velvet and closed with a lock and key. The interior can be fitted with trays for watches, cufflinks, pens or sunglasses, or left open.

Each collection is a different drawing cut by the same hands, in the same Sorrento workshop.
